After her husband suddenly died from a heart attack, her wife was charged with child endangerment. She was accused of leaving her children behind to go to the dinner that her husband had planned.
Dax Tejera, a 37-year old man, died Dec. 23, but police claim that he left behind his 5-month-old daughter and 2-year-old daughter.
A spokesperson for the NYPD’s public information office told Variety that she was booked on two counts of “acting in a manner injurious to a child.”
Police stated that they responded in an emergency to reports of children not being at home at the Yale Club in Manhattan.
An investigation found that “a 2-year-old female and a 5-month-old female were left alone inside of a hotel room for an extended period of time.”
The Tejeras lived in Chevy Chase, Maryland with their two children. Veronica was issued a desk ticket and then released from the two charges.
