Republicans in Congress are supporting a bill that would prohibit the use of gender transition methods on minors.
Another proposal would ban spending federal funds for gender transition services, regardless of the age of the patient.
The bill that bans sex-reassignments in children stipulates punishment for those who violate it, but not for those who are a victim of cross-sex measures.
The text of the measure says: “Any physical or psychological healthcare professional who knowingly performs, refers, or recommends any gender-transition procedure on a child shall be fined, imprisoned for not more than five years, or both.”
The bill says that no person performing the gender change procedure in accordance with subsection (a) may be arrested for or prosecuted on charges under this section. “A person who has a gender change procedure performed on them under this section can bring civil actions for the appropriate relief.
In the past, these proposals of common sense have been made but without success.
According to reports, GOP Senator Roger Marshall from Kansas stated that doctors must not be allowed to perform or assist in child mutilation.
