
Police arrested a convicted sex offenders for failing to update their address during an investigation into the zoning laws for a farmers market. Fox News reported that the man interacted with children while dressed as Elmo from “Sesame street”.
After reports that the Lehi Farmers Market was operating in violation with state code and local zoning laws, a detective from the Utah County Sheriff’s Office investigated the market.
Detectives investigated and found out that one of those operating the farmers’ market was a sex offender aged 74, registered in the Utah Sex Offender Registry. Police arrested the man on April 14, 2023 after learning that he hadn’t registered as a sex offenders at his new home.
The man was originally listed as residing in Saratoga Springs Utah. However, he lived at the exact same location where the farmers’ markets were located and did not update his address.
Investigators scanned the Lehi Farmers Market pages on social media and discovered a man dressed as Elmo. Investigators found two Instagram pictures of the offender holding and playing with a young child, while riding a tractor.
