
Janet Protasiewicz of Milwaukee County Circuit Court won the contest at the Wisconsin Supreme Court on Tuesday. Protasiewicz was supported by leftists.
According to the Associated Press., The Wisconsin Democratic Party spent more than $8 million on her campaign.
Protasiewicz was endorsed by Planned Parenthood Advocates of Wisconsin for the slot on Wisconsin’s Supreme Court.
Former U.S. Secretary Of State Hillary Clinton Former U.S. Attorney general Eric Holder both supported Protasiewicz.
According to NBC News the election result will change the court’s 4-3 conservative majority to a liberal majority.
Protasiewicz defeated Dan Kelly, an ex-Justice of the Wisconsin Supreme Court who was supported by pro-life organizations. Kelly was appointed to the state Supreme Court by the former-Gov. Scott Walker (R), in 2016, but Kelly lost an electoral election in 2020.
Justicedanielkelly.com describes the man as a “judicial conservative who will apply the law as it is written, rather than legislate from the bench.”
