Fox News Digital reported that a Louisiana elementary school music teacher has been facing backlash from parents after posting a Facebook post last month in which he enjoyed confusing students about gender identity.

Blaine Banghart was a nonbinary teacher at an elementary School in Caddo Parish in Shreveport. She took to social networking to explain to students how confused she is about her gender identity. Students no longer refer to the teacher as Mr. or Miss, but instead address the music teacher with Mx. Banghart.

Banghart posted on Facebook on November 7th, “It’s not permissible to tell children that I’m transgender or not-binary, or that I’m not female.” Today I arrived with a new haircut, and I was much more mascy than usual. They are confused, asking me why I have a mustache, if it’s a girl, and if Mr. Banghart is now, why am i trying to appear like a boy.

“I’m just ignoring questions/redirecting so I don’t get in trouble,” the teacher continued. “It’s not that I don’t find some reactions hurtful. They’re just kids. They don’t mean to harm. But I do enjoy all the confusion around ‘what’. I’m curious to see what they think of me when I get the mustache and a skirt later this year lol.
