Aiden Fucci’s mother was sent to prison on Friday after she washed the blood-stained jeans of her son, who had stabbed cheerleader Tristyn Baily 114 times.
Crystal Lane Smith, 37, the mother of Fucci, has pleaded guilty to tampering evidence two years after her son killed Bailey. The mother, Crystal Lane Smith, was sentenced to 30 day in jail and five years probation in order to cover up her son’s horrific crime.
Smith tried to clean her son’s jeans, which were blood-stained. The family’s video surveillance system caught the tampering. After deputies had visited the home of Fucci and his family to question him about Bailey’s murder, they cleaned the jeans.
WTLV reported on how, in the St. Johns County Sheriff’s Office interrogation room, Smith was seen telling her son that he had worn khakis instead of his bloody jeans the night of the crime. Smith whispered ‘blood’ at Fucci, to let him know that his jeans were dirty.
Smith’s and Fucci’s dad were also seen in the interrogation chamber advising their child to “find his tale and stick with” it.
Fucci’s jeans were later found to be contaminated by a forensic investigation.
