Florida Republicans won historic victories Tuesday night under Governor Ron DeSantis. These were at both the top and bottom of the ballot. These numbers show how strong they performed:

1,474,618 — That is the difference in DeSantis’s 2018 victory margin and his 2022 victory margin. DeSantis defeated Democrat Charlie Crist Tuesday by a staggering 1.5 million votes, four years after his victory over Democrat Andrew Gillum by 30,000 votes.

62 — DeSantis had lost nearly three-quarters of the 67 counties he occupied. He lost nearly triple that number of counties—13—in 2018.

2002 — This was the last year Republicans won a majority vote in historic blue Miami-Dade County. DeSantis won the county Tuesday by double digits, six years after Democrat Hillary Clinton won it with 30 points.

150 — This is roughly the number of years since Republicans held all the statewide office positions in Florida. Tuesday night marked the first anniversary since the Reconstruction era.
