Stacey Plaskett is a Democrat and the Virgin Islands’ delegate to the U.S. Congress. She called independent writers Matt Taibbi, Michael Shellenberger and others “so-called reporters” when they testified last month before the House Judiciary Select Subcommittee for the Weaponization and Federal Government.
She has gone a long way.
Plaskett has sent Taibbi an accusatory letter in which he suggests that he may face five years of jail time. Lee Fang is a writer that works with Taibbi, and who publishes at Substack. She obtained the letter. Plaskett writes that false testimony given to Congress can be punished by up to 5 years in jail.
Taibbi was accused of perjury by the congresswoman because of a small number of mistakes he committed during the publication process of the Twitter Files. Mehdi Hazan, a MSNBC host, was able to pick up on these mistakes and mocked Taibbi during an interview.
Taibbi did make some mistakes in his tweets.
