Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg was sharply criticized after he seemed to shift some of the blame regarding the Ohio train derailment onto President Donald Trump. This is because the Department of Transportation, (DOT) under Trump omitted an Obama-era regulation on advanced brake systems.
The February 3rd derailment of a train carrying hazardous chemical cargo in East Palestine (Ohio) sparked panic and caused toxins to
be released into the atmosphere, forcing evacuations.
Buttigieg’s office did not address the incident for days, with the Transportation secretary breaking his silence on Feb. 14, saying he was “concerned about the impacts” of the derailment, which also led to contaminants entering the Ohio River, killing several thousand fish….
